Ousted Malian President hospitalised in a private hospital

Ousted Malian President, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita has been hospitalised at a private hospital in Bamako, Mali. This is coming ten days after he was released from detention.

Political observers from every side of the spectrum have expressed their concerns about the ex-President’s ill-health and sent well wishes.

One of the leaders of the M5 Rally for Patriotic Forces movement, Nouhoum Sarr said: “Beyond the political differences we may have had, the humanitarian issue transcends all of this. He is a compatriot, he is a human being.

“We wish him good health and a quick recovery in our own establishment and we believe that if the specialists in our country do not allow his health to be taken care of, beyond any political consideration, then he can be evacuated.”

The 75-year suffered a stroke on Tuesday night. He was the President of Mali from 2013 – 2020
